Tell the truth.

How many times have you sat through an online webinar, half listening, half responding to emails you’ve put off in your inbox?

None?

Really?

Scrolling through social media then?

(I’m joking…mostly.)

Webinars are everywhere.  They’re easily accessible time and cost-effective. They’re a fantastic tool for continuing education, mass dissemination of information, lead generation, etc.

If you’re making webinars for your employees or your target market, keeping participant attention is a big deal.

Drop off rates during webinars vary from industry to industry, however, only 35-40% of registrants who sign up with actually show up.

So, how do you keep the interest of the participants you’ve got?

Let me help!

Here are three easy ways to make your webinar memorable and engaging;

1.) Ditch your PowerPoint and use the camera instead.

Your participants want to see you. They want to engage with you, even if you’re not in the same room.   Show them your face and your smile, and they’ll be able to feel your interest in the topic.

(It’s also harder for a participant to click away from your face when the urge to check LinkedIn strikes.)

2.) Use videos.

Integrating videos into webinar content is a trend that’s gaining popularity. Adding a video that’s relevant to your pre-existing content helps keep your audience’s attention. Just be sure to test your videos before you go live!

3.) Add Q&A

According to ON24 webinar benchmarking data “92% of webinar attendees want a live question and answer session.”  Make sure to plan 10-15 minutes toward the end of your webinar.  Have a few canned questions prepared in case your participants need prompting to get started. Before you log off be sure to wrap up with key takeaways and a strong call to action.

Give these a try the next time you’re creating a webinar and watch your audience engagement soar.
